What to do when a Woodpecker crashes

What do you do when a Woodpecker crashes into your window at home and dies. Yes, of course you take it to work (after first showing it at the after-school where the little one goes).

We had a gathering time about the woodpecker dividing the group of children in 2 and had the gathering over two rounds. The children were given gloves and had to guess what was in the lunch box. When we opened there were shocked looks and many who expressed sadness at the dead bird. The children could hold it and feel its weight, stroke it, touch its beak and study its claws. The children were served pictures of mum, dad and a young woodpecker and taught us to tell the difference between them. We counted the number of bones, claws, eyes, beaks, wings etc. then we focused on its colors. We laid out represented colors on the floor and the children had to match objects to the correct color and name the color. We also focused on what feeds the woodpecker and had an A4 sheet with food we humans like and what the woodpecker liked (this was difficult to understand). We watched video clips of woodpeckers where the focus was to see which woodpecker it was (mother/father/child). Then we colored woodpeckers at the same time as we studied it.
