Since we live in the middle

This kindergarten year, the school starters have had a theme about the Vikings. Since we live in the middle of "Vikingland" (steinkjer), we have beautiful burial mounds in the local area which have been used extensively.

We have explored playing. The theme has followed in parallel with other themes (such as diet, holidays, language, shaping, etc.) and we have compared similarities and differences. We have made Viking food, our own Viking costumes, jewellery, helmets, shields, fads and Viking textiles. We have had a Viking battle in the forest and in March we had a Viking party with Viking games and a Viking hunt for gold. We have previously had a tradition of going to Stiklestad as a final trip, but this is a bit uncertain this year (last year it was also cancelled) But we have Egge, which has its own Viking history.
