We have started an ant project in the nursery where we found a formica fusca queen and some workers out with the children, now they have built a home in our terrarium the children can see when they dig tunnels and get to feed the ants with honey. Of course, you have to read up on the species you are looking after so that they thrive.
It is difficult to find a queen, but they can be bought from breeders at finn.no if any of you are interested in such a project.
