Interactive car carpet
We missed a bit of imagination/role play in the car corner, so we made a board game/role play. We have printed out and laminated different pictures of places the children know.
E.g. the emergency services, grocery stores, the nursery, thieves and workshops. Then we place the "pieces" outside where the children want them to belong. In the beginning, an active adult role is required to help create a story, but eventually the children come up with things that should happen themselves. For example:
- Thieves escape from prison and steal chocolate at Kiwi. There will be an emergency call and car chase!
- The police chief has to drive to deliver children to the nursery before work.
- The fire engine has to be called out because there is a fire at the police station.
- A bus crashes and all the passengers have to be taken to the hospital.
(We have turned a bookcase with a hard back in the department, made a car track out of tape from Milas, painted over with floor varnish so it sits well. The "table" is at the perfect height for the children to play on their knees, and move around .About 40 cm high)
